KINDERGARTEN ROUND-UP/REGISTRATION
Kindergarten Round-up/Registration will be held at Hightower
Elementary on Thursday, April 3rd. Parents
may register their child between 9:00 am to 11:00 am or in the afternoon between
1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
Your child must be 5 years old on or before
September 1, 2008 to be eligible for Kindergarten for the 2008-2009
school year.
Only a parent or legal guardian may register the
child for school.
Please bring the following items:
(1) Parents or Legal Guardian’s Proof of Residency
Current gas/electric bill or current lease agreement
or Proof of Residency Form with residence’s current gas/electric
bill
or Certificate of Eligibility to Enroll
(2) Student’s Certified Birth Certificate or
Passport
(3) Student’s Social Security Card, if available
(4) Student’s Immunization Record signed or
stamped by a physician or clinic
(5) Parents or Legal Guardian’s Drivers License or
Passport or a Texas Department of transportation ID Card

CHOIR PERFORMANCE
You are invited to the final choir concert of the Hightower
Elementary 5th Grade Choir, to be held at 7:00 on Thursday, April
3rd on the Hightower stage. An evening of beautiful music awaits,
with performances by the Hightower 5th grade choir, the Metroplex Children's
Choir participants, and the OAKE National Children's Choir participants!
TIGER FEST
Join us on Saturday, April
19, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for a fun-filled day with
family, friends, and the entire Hightower community! Please read

on ticket sales and volunteer opportunities. Tickets are needed for
all games, activities and food. To purchase tickets, please fill
out and return this form
along with a check made payable to Hightower PTA, or cash, to school
in an envelope marked Tiger Fest by Friday, April
11.

PISD eNEWS
Get
weekly electronic updates on Hightower Happenings. eNews is a free e-mail newsletter service from
our
district and schools. Parents are encouraged to sign
up to receive e-newsletters from the district and also individual
schools (select "Hightower" for the K-5 school).
OPEN POSITIONS
Are you looking for some way to get involved at
your child’s school? The Hightower PTA is looking for
volunteers to fill the Triple M, SAGE, and Corporate Partnerships
positions.

VOLUNTEERS
In order to volunteer in PISD, new and returning volunteers must complete an online application
each year (valid July 1 to June 30).
Log on to www.pisd.edu,
then click on "Volunteer Application" near the bottom of the
page, or go directly to the application. Follow the prompts
to complete. At the end of the application process, a Volunteer
Agreement form will print out. You must have this form notarized.
School office personnel can notarize the form. Keep in
mind that approval generally takes one to two weeks to process.
Volunteers who completed this form for the previous school year
created a User ID and Password. If you do not remember these,
simply click on the appropriate spot on the first screen of the
application to get this information.

HIGHTOWER PTA!
PTA is an essential part of our school which
funds many programs and activities for the children, teachers, staff and
families of Hightower. Hightower PTA has a very active volunteer base. By
becoming a PTA member, you add your support and voice to others making a
difference for our children at Hightower and all children!!
Membership is $10.00 for a family and
$6.00 for an individual; each household joining PTA receives a complimentary
school directory. FLY HIGH and get your Passport to become a member of our
PTA.

SCHOOL STORE
Check
out the online ordering capability! A
variety of school related items (notepads, pencils, water bottles,
etc.) are offered for purchase.
RECYCLING
Save those old cell phones, eyeglasses, and toner
and ink cartridges.
Hightower will hold a recycling drive during the school year.
It's as easy as dropping them off at the curb with your child in the
morning. Something so simple can make such a huge difference!
