Agenda:  This is an organizational calendar/homework tracker provided by PTA for students in grades one through five.  The agenda encourages students to develop responsible behavior with regard to school assignments and upcoming obligations, as well as provide teachers and parents with a written record of assignments.

Banking Day:  North Dallas Bank & Trust Co., in corporate partnership with Hightower, provides a banking representative to accept deposits for those students with an open savings account on a monthly basis.  Each student is offered the opportunity to open a no-cost savings account with North Dallas Bank & Trust Co. during Hooray for Hightower, at the school on the monthly banking day, or directly at the bank.  North Dallas Bank & Trust Co. is located at 3900 Preston Rd., phone number 972-387-1300.

Camp Classen:  Fifth graders are eligible to participate in the PISD sponsored week-long outdoor environmental school at Camp Classen in Oklahoma.  Parent volunteers, as well as the fifth grade teachers and staff members accompany the students to camp.

Field Day:   The Physical Education Department organizes a year-end event of outdoor games for students in all grades.  Students may purchase t-shirts through the Physical Education Department to wear this day with the color coordinated by grade level.

Paw Printer:  PTA’s onsite book binding program publishes students’ stories and illustrations, as well as teacher projects.  Students may submit books created at home or in class to be published.

Shoebox Art:  Art project supplies are organized in “shoe boxes” and available in the library for students to check out.

Shoebox Science:  Science experiment supplies are organized in “shoe boxes” and available in the library for students to check out.

Think Bags:  These bags have brain triggered manipulative activities.  The bags are available for weekly checkout in the library.

Grade Level Coordinator:  A grade level coordinator for each grade coordinates the Book Buddies, Computer Parent, and Workroom Parent schedules for the teachers in grades Kindergarten through five.

Room Representatives:  Parent volunteers plan and organize classroom parties and assist the PTA or grade level teachers when asked.  The Lead Room Representative acts as a group leader for the entire grade and serves as a liaison between the lead grade level teacher and the Room Representatives for that respective grade.

Hightower PTA is a non-profit organization operating independently of Hightower Elementary School and Plano Independent School District.
